In 2015 Grace and Mick teamed up for the first time to compete an endurance rally with the Transamerica Challenge.
The route took us from Halifax in Canada to San Francisco in California.
From day one Grace understood how it worked and we finished the three and a half week rally in 9thplace overall with only very experienced crews in front of us.
In October 2017 we competed the ERA organized Classic Safari rally.
Cape town to Cape town, via Namibia, Botswana, Zimabwe and back to S-Africa. 8500 km.
This was by no means ‘ a walk in the safari park’ often with very tough terrain and forty-five degree temperatures but a magnificent experience.
Again Grace brought us home without a single mistake.
A lot happened in that rally but in the end we finished fifth overall.
I think you can say we have got the rally bug properly and so now we are going to do Transamerica one more time.
This time the route will take us from Charleston to Seattle approx 8500 km in 22 days.
Very different from Africa but once again a good way to see parts of the USA that we would normally not travel to.
We will arrive in Charleston a few days before the start as we have been invited by our American friends and endurance rally veterans, Ed and Janet Howle to join them in their seaside holiday home for a few days before the rally starts.
We are looking forward to another great adventure and we hope to share some of our experiences and photo’s with you with our daily updates.
